A Message from Our President and CEO

Hello and thank you for visiting Helix Community Schools. We’re glad you stopped by.

We are a Louisiana-based charter school network made up of three schools in the Baton Rouge area and soon to be two schools in Opelousas.  We’ve been operating in Baton Rouge since 2010. This is our home! At Helix, our mission is to provide innovative academic programs and pathways to college and careers in science, technology, engineering, arts and math (STEAM) and the law.  We’re so proud of the work we are doing to prepare our students to succeed in and out of the classroom. We are growing and expanding our schools, our grades and our curriculum to better serve our students, our families and our community at large. But we couldn’t do it without your support and the support of our community partners. Thank you! We are dedicated and committed to continuing to make a positive impact in our community.

ATHLETICS

Athletics is an important part of providing a comprehensive quality education for our students.  We believe sports gives students an invaluable opportunity to develop skills that will serve them well on and off the field such as leadership, time management, problem solving, delegation and teamwork. Sports also helps build character and self-discipline.   We offer football, basketball, track, volleyball, and baseball.  For more information, contact Gary Duhe, athletic director at Helix Community Schools, at g.duhe@helixcommunityschools.org

HELIX MENTORSHIP ACADEMY MARCHING BAND

Since its inception, the band has performed at numerous community events including the Krewe of Oshun Mardi Gras parade and the St. Patrick’s Day “Wearin’ of the Green’ parade.
