Preston J. Castille, Jr. is president and CEO at Helix Community Schools, a network of early childhood, elementary, secondary and post-secondary schools (Pre-K-14) in south Louisiana that has a strong emphasis on Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts & Mathematics (STEAM). In Baton Rouge, the Helix network includes Helix Mentorship & Maritime Academy, Helix Aviation Academy, and Helix Legal Academy. In 2023, Helix acquired Cristo Rey/Franciscan High School and adopted Cristo Rey’s national corporate work study program model. Helix is also preparing to open Helix College & Career Academy in August 2025 to help students earn college credits and industry-based credentials beyond the 12th grade.

In Opelousas, Helix and the St. Landry Parish School Board have partnered to open two new schools. Construction is underway for Helix AI & Medical Academy and it will open in August 2025.  Helix plans to begin construction on Helix Energy & Agriculture Academy in 2026.

In Baker, Helix and the City of Baker School System have partnered to expand and redesign Baker High School and Park Ridge Achievement Academy.  They will become Helix FinTech & Performing Arts Academies this Fall 2025. 

Mr. Castille is also the district 8 member of the Louisiana Board of Elementary & Secondary Education (BESE). Elected in 2019 and re-elected in 2023, his district includes 14 parishes. He has served as board vice president and chaired numerous committees.

Mr. Castille was an adjunct law professor at LSU Law School for eight years and has taught at Southern University Law Center for 23 years. He is general counsel and a trustee for the SU System Foundation. Mr. Castille previously served as national president for the SU Alumni Federation.

The Louisiana Supreme Court appointed him Judge Pro Tempore in 2009, and he presided over hundreds of trials and hearings. He served as president of the Baton Rouge Bar Association in 2011, held leadership roles with the American and Louisiana State Bar Associations, and served on the Louisiana Law Institute. Mr. Castille retired as a partner and Executive Committee member of the Taylor Porter law firm in 2020, after 25 years of practice with the firm. He now owns a small law and consulting firm.

Mr. Castille helped manage the creation and development of the Descendants Truth & Reconciliation Foundation and Trust. The Foundation and Trust are a remarkable partnership between the Jesuit Order of the Catholic Church and Descendants of persons enslaved and sold by the Order in 1838.

Mr. Castille earned a Bachelor’s degree in economics from Southern University and a Juris Doctor degree from Tulane University Law School.

In accordance with the Louisiana Public Records Law (La. R.S. 44:1 et seq.), individuals may request access to public records maintained by Helix Community Schools by submitting a written request to the Custodian of Public Records. All public records requests must be directed to: public.records@helixcommunityschools.org.

Student education records are protected under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and related state laws, and are not considered public records. Requests for student records must be submitted directly to the appropriate school using the contact information provided below. Requests properly submitted to the Custodian of Public Records will be reviewed and responded to within the timeframes required by Louisiana law.

Helix Community Schools maintains student records at the school level. If you are seeking student records, please submit your request directly to the school the student attends or attended to ensure timely and accurate processing of your request.
Please include the student’s full name, date of birth, and any relevant details to help locate the records. Student records are confidential and will only be released in accordance with applicable federal and state privacy laws. Below are the designated email addresses for submitting student records requests for each Helix school. Failure to direct records requests to the correct school will result in delayed processing.
