July 21, 2009: Helix Network of Educational Choices was created

 

 

 

2010

East Baton Rouge Parish School Board approves two Helix Schools – Mentorship Academy of Digital Arts (MADA) and Mentorship Academy of Science and Technology (MAST)

 

2011

Mentorship Academy of Digital Arts (MADA) and Mentorship Academy of Science and Technology open (MAST)

 

 

2017

MADA and MAST are consolidated into one and become Mentorship STEAM Academy

 

 

2019

Helix Community Schools is founded to establish a strong network of innovative schools to improve educational options for children and to lead the expansion of Helix Schools

  • Helix Community Schools acquire the Multiplex facility at Baton Rouge Metro Airport. Helix Community Schools facilitates the purchase of Mentorship’s building
  • Covid delays launch of Helix Aviation Academy and Helix Legal Academy

2021

Helix Aviation Academy and Helix Legal Academy open

2022

Helix Community Schools in St. Landry Parish was created. St. Landy Parish School board approves Helix Artificial Intelligence and Medical Academy and Helix Energy and Agriculture Academy

2023

Helix acquires Franciscan High School and it’s heralded Corporate Work Study Program which helps to fuel the growth of Helix Mentorship Academy

2024

  • June – Helix acquires Idea University Prep Prep’s (UP) Plank Road campus facilities at 7701 Plank Road. The campus becomes a part of Helix Aviation Academy. Aviation also adds three new grades at the school – kindergarten, first and ninth grade – which launched in the fall.
  • July – Construction begins on Helix Artificial Intelligence and Medical Academy which includes kindergarten through fifth grade
